摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a battery management device and a method thereof in which a bypass circuit can be prevented from being damaged by a bypass current which flows when charging of a battery is completed. SOLUTION: The battery management device comprises a battery pack 1 where a plurality of secondary batteries 1a-1n are connected in series, a charging current setting section 8 connected in series with the battery pack 1 and supplying a charging current to the battery pack 1, and a bypass circuit provided for each secondary battery 1a-1n and bypassing the charging current not used for charging the secondary batteries 1a-1n as a bypass current so that the terminal voltage of the secondary batteries 1a-1n does not exceeds the charging completion voltage of the secondary batteries. The charging current setting section 8 supplies a charging current to the battery pack 1 such that the charging current does not exceed an allowable bypass current which is the maximum bypass current.
