PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a toner where a toner with a fine particle diameter having a sharp particle size distribution and satisfactory controlled shape can be efficiently produced. SOLUTION: In the method for producing a toner comprising: a dispersion stabilizer preparation process where a hardly water-soluble inorganic salt is precipitated into an acqueous dispersion medium, so as to be a dispersion stabilizer; a granulation process where a liquid composition at least comprising a coloring agent is dispersed into the acqueous dispersion medium, so as to be a particulate shape; a solidification process where the liquid composition with a particulate shape is solidified, so as to be toner particles; and a dissolution process where, after the solidification, acid or alkali is charged into the acqueous dispersion medium, so as to dissolve the hardly water-soluble inorganic salt, as the acid or alkali used in the dissolution process, the acid or alkali having common ions other than hydrogen ions or hydroxide ions produced upon the dissolution of the hardly water-soluble inorganic salt is selected.
