PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of reinforcing foundation soil or lifting an extremely heavy/large structure which applies pressure exceeding 500 kPa to the soil. SOLUTION: An inflatable material is infused into the soil to be reinforced or into the soil under the foundation of the structure to be lifted. The inflatable material inflates as a result of a chemical reaction, and is suitable for generating compression pressure of 500 kPa or more applied to the soil during the inflation. The inflatable material can generate and apply pressure to the peripheral soil which is greater than 500 kPa and exceeds 10,000 kPa during inflation. COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT
