A mobile terminal and an operation method thereof are provided to form an image projection part, which projects specific data to the external, in a simple structure so that a user can easily confirm various events. A mobile terminal comprises an image projection part(70), a communication module(10), and a control part(40). The image projection part(70) projects specific data to the external. The communication module(10) transmits and receives data through a wireless network. The control part(40) controls the operation of the image projection part(70) so that the data received through the communication module(10) or preset data can be projected through the image projection part(70). In case that a specific event, such as call reception, message reception, and alarm output, occurs, the control part(40) makes the data equivalent to the specific event projected through the image projection part(70).
