<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a function for utilizing an object detection function while suppressing release time lag. <P>SOLUTION: The imaging apparatus comprises a section 124 for selecting any one of a plurality of focal point detection areas on a finder, a section 123 for locking the focus of a photo-optical system 100 to a target object existing at a position corresponding to a focal point detection area selected at the selecting section, a section 117 for detecting fluctuation of the imaging apparatus, a section 129 for predicting the position of a target object on the screen by calculating the positional shift of the target object on the screen between a moment in time when the focus is fixed at the focus lock section and a moment in time when photography is performed based on the detection results from the fluctuation detecting section, and a section 113 for detecting the face of a figure by clipping the image in the vicinity of the position of the target object predicted at the predicting section from an image photoed by image pickup elements. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT |
