<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a pedestrian protection device for a vehicle, which suppresses unnecessary operation of an instrument for protecting pedestrians. <P>SOLUTION: The pedestrian protection device is provided with: a collision detecting means detecting a collision with a pedestrian; a car speed detecting means detecting a car speed; and a protection means for protecting a pedestrian in the collision, and operates the protection means when the collision detecting means detects the collision with the pedestrian in the state where the car speed detected by the car speed detecting means is in a prescribed range. This pedestrian protection device is further provided with: an abnormal state detecting means detecting the abnormal state of the car speed detecting means; and a prescribed state determination means determining whether or not the own vehicle is in a prescribed state non-requiring operation of the protection means, and is characterized by not operating the protection means in the case where the prescribed state determination means determines that the own vehicle is in the prescribed state when the abnormal state detecting means detects the abnormal state of the car speed detection means. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT |
