<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To easily confirm existence of a jammed sheet by having a bottom guide released linked with an extracting action for a paper feed cassette only when the jammed sheet exists in a sheet reconveying path. <P>SOLUTION: The sheet reconveying path 44 in an image forming apparatus is composed by arranging the bottom guide 48 in a guide position facing a top guide 47 by torsion springs 65 and 66. When jamming of the sheet P is detected by a detection sensor 72, the bottom guide 48 is energized to a paper supplying cassette 23 side against energizing force of the torsion springs 65 and 66 by stopping a pair of reconveying rollers 46 on a downstream side, rotating a reconveying roller 45 on an upstream side and having the jammed sheet curved or bent like bellows.
