PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an air conditioner and a control method of the air conditioner capable of improving the performance by the efficient operation and performing the control according to the load. SOLUTION: The air conditioner 10 comprises an outdoor heat exchanger 11, a bypass circuit 12, a first pressure reducing device 13 and a second pressure reducing device 14. The outdoor heat exchanger 11 has a first heat exchanger 11a and a second heat exchanger 11b. A refrigerant flows from the second heat exchanger 11b to the first heat exchanger 11a in the cooling operation. The bypass circuit 12 is connected to the piping as the inlet of the refrigerant in the first heat exchanger 11a and to a connection part P of the piping as the inlet of the refrigerant in the second heat exchanger 11b in the heating operation. The first pressure reducing device 13 is disposed in the bypass circuit 12, and the second pressure reducing device 14 is disposed between the piping as the outlet of the refrigerant in the first heat exchanger 11a and the connection part P of the piping as the inlet of the refrigerant in the second heat exchanger 11b in the heating operation.
