<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide the compact drive transmission unit which has both a drive transmission function between a drive shaft and a driven shaft, and a braking function of a driven shaft by using the electric viscous fluid whose viscosity serves as adjustable by the applied reinforcement of an electric field. <P>SOLUTION: The compact drive transmission unit has: the drive shaft 2 which is an input shaft from the driving source 1; the driven shaft 4 which transmits the drive force by connecting to the drive shaft 2; the conductive case 5 which the electric viscous fluid is enclosed internally; the high voltage generator 9 which applies an electric field to the electric viscous fluid; the clutch mode which applies the electric field to the high voltage generator 9 by the drive shaft 2 and the driven shaft 4 as an electrode respectively; and a switch 11 to select the brake mode which applies the electric field to the high voltage generator 9 by the driven shaft 4 and the case 5 as the electrode respectively. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT |
