<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a developing device hardly causing scumming or toner scattering by appropriately electrifying toner while restraining deterioration in the toner with the lapse of time. <P>SOLUTION: The developing device 4 is equipped with a developing roller 16, developer conveying members 17 and 18, a doctor blade 19 functioning as a developer amount regulating member for regulating the amount of developer on the developing roller 16, and an electrification auxiliary member 20. The electrification auxiliary member 20 has a supporting member 21 and a brush 22 which is supported in such a cantilever state that its one end is fixed to the supporting member 21. The surface of the brush 22 is covered with material on a reverse polarity side to the toner in the developer G in a triboelectrification system.
