<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a display apparatus in which the illuminance distribution on a display surface of a light transmissive display plate is made uniform through securing the maximal space between a first diffusion sheet and a second diffusion sheet and maximally making use of a diffusion effect by dispensing with a clearance between a light source and a diffusion sheet formed under consideration of variations in components, and also to provide an image forming device equipped with the same. <P>SOLUTION: The display apparatus has: the light transmissive display plate 14; the light source 17 provided below the display plate 14; the first diffusion sheet 15a provided below the display plate 14 so as to diffuse light toward the back face of the display plate 14; and the second diffusion sheet 18a provided above the light source 17 so as to diffuse the light emitted from the light source 17.
