PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an interchangeable lens digital camera which has minimized time required for focusing in the imager AF using an interchangeable lens designed so as to adapt to a TTL phase difference AF system. SOLUTION: The interchangeable lens digital camera comprises a camera body 1 and the interchangeable lens 2. The camera has a focus detecting section 12 that calculates a focus evaluation value, and a control section 14 that controls focusing by controlling the movement of the focus lens so that the focus evaluation value becomes maximum. On the basis of information on the characteristics of the interchangeable lens 2, the control section 14 judges the movement control suitability of the interchangeable lens 2.
