PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To form an excellent phosphor spot across a phosphor screen while using an inexpensive electrode component easily manufactured, and to respond to needs for increase in a deflection angle. SOLUTION: An auxiliary second grid SG2 having electron beam passing holes 25 formed thereon is arranged between a second grid G2 and a third grid G3 wherein a prefocus lens is formed. To the auxiliary second grid SG2, constant voltage the same as or lower than that to the second grid G2 is applied. Electron beam passing holes 21 of a first grid G1 have a noncircular shape in which opening diameter in the horizontal direction is larger than that in the vertical direction. Opening diameters in the both horizontal and vertical directions of the electron beam passing holes 25 of the auxiliary second grid SG2 are set larger than those of electron beam passing holes 22 of the second grid G2.
