ARTIFICIAL MARBLE CONTAINING CHIP WITH TRANSPARENT AND LIGHT REFLECTING MATERIALS, AND PROCESS FOR PREPARING THE SAME

An artificial marble comprising light-reflecting transparent chips is provided to have glittering and light-reflecting effects and display a fancy image equal to natural marble. A method for manufacturing artificial marble includes the steps of: producing a flat panel for a transparent layer(12) having lower specific gravity than artificial marble; forming a flat panel for a high specific gravity layer having higher specific gravity than artificial marble, on the flat panel for a transparent layer; forming a flat panel for a light-reflecting layer(13) beneath the flat panel for a transparent layer; breaking the flat panel laminate to produce light-reflecting chips having increased specific gravity; applying the light-reflecting chips to artificial marble to produce an artificial marble flat panel; and exposing the transparent layer to the surface by sanding the artificial marble flat panel to remove the high specific gravity layer.
