A chip mounter having an auxiliary controller is provided to transfer a PCB even when a main controller is defective, by using the auxiliary controller and an error detector. A chip mounter includes a chip mounting unit(131), a PCB(Printed Circuit Board) transfer device(132), a main controller(134), and an auxiliary controller(137). The chip mounting unit mounts components on a transferred PCB. The PCB transfer device transfers the PCB, so that the chip mounting device mounts the components on the PCB. The main controller is connected to the chip mounting device and the PCB transfer device and controls the overall components. The auxiliary controller drives the PCB transfer device when the main controller is defective. The PCB is transferred.
