An LCD(Liquid Crystal Display) device and a driving method thereof are provided to compare the common voltage from an LCD panel with the common voltage from a common voltage generator according to the change of temperature and select a proper gamma voltage based on the comparison, consequently an optimized image can be display on the LCD regardless of temperature. A data driver is formed to drive a data line of a liquid crystal display panel(102). A gamma voltage selection unit supplies selectively a plurality of gamma voltage sets to the data driver. A selection control unit controls the gamma voltage selection on the basis of a common voltage on a common line arranged on the liquid crystal display panel. The gamma voltage selection unit compares with the common voltage of the common line with a predetermined reference value, and generates a gamma voltage control signal for selecting a gamma voltage from a plurality of gamma voltage sets according to the compared result.
