A backlight assembly and an LCD comprising the same are provided to reduce size and weight of the LCD, by forming a plurality of LEDs(Light Emitting Diodes) above or below a light guiding plate. A plurality of LEDs(45) are formed above or below a light guiding plate(44) while the LEDs overlap the light guiding plate. The LEDs supply light to an incident face of the light guiding plate. A reflection member(47) reflects the light supplied from the LEDs to the incident face of the light guiding plate. The reflection member has a groove formed on inside thereof, thereby accurately reflecting the light to the light guiding plate.
