<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus designed such that odor substances and the like contained in exhaust gas are adsorbed by an adsorbate and the adsorbate adsorbing odor substances and the like are recycled to purify exhaust gas. <P>SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus is provided with a purifying device 1 that purifies odor substances produced in a fixing section and in an image forming section. In the purifying device 1, the granular adsorbate C is mixed into an exhaust gas Ar flowing in an air flow path 80, thereby removing the odor substances and the like. The granular adsorbate C adsorbing the odor substance and the like is separated from the exhaust gas Ar by a cyclone separator 81, and is made active again by the action of a photocatalyst 90 and an ultraviolet lamp 91 while temporarily stored in a storage tank 82.
