<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a data communication device capable of communicating with a target opposite side similarly to use of an SIP server by decreasing erroneous connections even when the SIP server is in trouble. <P>SOLUTION: Opposite-side information (IP address etc.) sent back from the SIP server 8 at the time of transmission, and the telephone number of the opposite side are correlated with each other and stored in the storage means 34 of a network facsimile machine 10. When the SIP server 8 becomes abnormal and the opposite-side information is not sent back from the SIP server 8 any more (P12), data communication is carried out by using the opposite-side information stored in the storage means 34 (P14).
