The prosthesis (14) has a cover wall (16) with a closed spherical outer surface (18) and a concave, femur-sided open inner space (20), which is accessible over a femur-sided opening (22) in the wall. The opening is covered by a front surface (24) formed to support on bones. The front surface with an outer circular circumferential edge (26) is attached to the outer surface, where an inner circumferential edge (28) of the front surface is bordered to the inner space. The front surface and/or the two circumferential edges define a plane, which defines the prosthesis together with outer surface.
