A device for returning books attached with barcode labels and a driving method thereof are provided to detect a sensitizing means such as an EM(Electromagnetic) tape or an EM strip attached on the book at the same time in returning the books. A device(100) for returning books attached with barcode labels is composed of a front input unit(200) having a return button(201) requesting the returning of the books and a door(203) through which the books are input; a door recognition unit having a movable scanner(303) for discriminating the books inserted through the front input unit; a door transfer unit having a conveyor belt(402) horizontally driven to classify the books discriminated by the movable scanner and transfer the classified books; and a control unit having a microcomputer.
