Functional gum containing ergosterol from mushroom having the same structure as cholesterol is provided to prevent adult disease by lowering cholesterol levels. Functional gum contains 21 to 29% by weight of a gum base, 0.1 to 0.6% by weight of a softening agent, 40 to 55% by weight of D-sorbitol, 2 to 10% by weight of isomalt, 5 to 20% by weight of xylitol, 2 to 4% by weight of ergosterol peroxide, 0.001 to 0.002% by weight of aspartame, 1 to 2.5% by weight of a spice, 0.1 to 2% by weight of potassium phosphate tribasic and 0.04 to 0.2% by weight of dextranase. The ergosterol peroxide is extracted from mushroom selected from Hericium erinaceus, Lentinus edodes, Agaricus blazei, Polyporus umbellatus, Coriolus versicolor, Fomes fomentarius, Inonotus obliquus and Phellinus baumii. |
