An expansion joint using elastomer and method of installing the same are provided not only to reduce adhesion strength of a bottom between the expansion joint and a structure but also to attach an adhesive tape to sides in order to allow a wall to be freely expanded when the expansion joint is contracted and expanded. An expansion joint zone(2) is formed between concrete structures(1) between which a space(12) is defined. A backup material(13) is inserted into the space. A support steel plate(24) is installed on a bottom of the expansion joint zone. An expansion joint member(23) is filled into the expansion joint zone. A rubber asphalt based tape(22) is attached to a wall of the concrete structure having the expansion joint member and the expansion joint zone. |
