<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an airbag device for protecting the head capable of accurately positioning to the position of the head moving in the vertical direction in response to the operation for opening/closing the roof with one airbag by moving the air bag device in the vertical direction in response to the operation for opening/closing the roof. <P>SOLUTION: An elevating device 20 is provided to change vertical position of a side airbag device 10 when opening and closing the roof 2 so as to position the side airbag 10 at an upper position when the roof 2 is opened and so as to position the side airbag device 10 at a lower position when the roof 2 is closed. With this structure, the side airbag is positioned in the upper position when the roof 2 is opened and the head Mh is positioned high, and the side airbag device 10 is positioned at the lower position when the roof 2 is closed and the head Mh is positioned low.
