<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide light source devices which can be easily manufactured and can use non-polarization light efficiently. <P>SOLUTION: The light source devices 10, 20, 30, 40, 50 include: elliptic face mirrors 2, 22 on which a first focal point X1 and a second focal point X2, at which light converges by reflecting light from a light source 1 disposed at the first focal point X1, are defined; a spherical reflecting mirror 6 on which a third focal point X3, at which light returns to the light source 1 by reflecting the light from the light source 1, is defined; and the light source 1 that emits non-polarization light. The first focal point X1, the third focal point X3, and the light source 1 are disposed at the same position. The light source devices 10, 20, 30, 40, 50 further include: reflection type polarization elements 5, 25, 35 which transmit uni-directional linear polarization light, and reflect light perpendicular to the polarization light toward the elliptical face reflecting mirrors 2, 22 as reflection light; and 1/4 wavelength plate 4. The 1/4 wavelength plate 4 is disposed between the elliptical face reflecting mirrors 2, 22 and reflection type polarization elements 5, 25, 35. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT</p> |
