PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the reliability of communication equipment by confirming the normality of the physical interface of a standby system in a short interval, and to achieve communication even when an active system and the standby system are switched without making the other party of communication consider such switching. SOLUTION: This communication equipment is provided with a physical interface 11 of an active system to which an address has been applied and a physical interface 12 of a standby system to which an address has been applied, and the physical interface 12 of the standby system is put in a start status, and information communication for the purpose of a test is operated with test communication equipment 52 through the physical interface 12 of the standby system so that the normality confirmation of the physical interface 12 of the standby system is operated. In switching the physical interface to the active system or the standby system, the address used in the old active system is taken over as the address of a new active system, and the address used in the old standby system is taken over as the address of a new standby system.
