PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus which can easily wipe print heads and a method of driving the same. SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus comprises, an ink cartridge 100 including a plurality of print heads 150 arranged in a width direction of a print medium crossing a direction along which the print medium P is transferred, a wiping unit 200 moving in the transfer direction to wipe nozzle surfaces 150a of the plurality of print heads, and a controller 300 independently driving the plurality of print heads which have been wiped by the wiping unit, so that nozzles 151, 152, 153, 154 of the plurality of print heads spray predetermined amounts of inks. According to this configuration, the nozzle surfaces of the plurality of print heads arranged in a width direction of a print medium crossing a direction along which the print medium is transferred are wiped by the wiping unit moving in the transfer direction, and the nozzles of the plurality of print heads are independently driven and controlled so as to spray predetermined amounts of inks.
