PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To propose a thermal printer in which a platen roller of an attachment and detachment type can be accurately positioned to a body frame. SOLUTION: In the thermal printer 1, platen bearings 52a and 52b fixed at axial ends 51a and 51b of the platen roller 5 of the attachment and detachment type are pressed by lock levers 8a and 8b against bearing insertion slots 7a and 7b formed in the body frame 3, whereby positions of the platen bearings 52a and 52b are regulated by three points of two points A and B of the body frame side and one point C of the lock lever side. The platen roller 5 is forcibly positioned to the body frame 3, and therefore can be accurately positioned to the body frame 3. In consequence, a following side gear 18 fixed at the axial end of the platen roller 5 can be surely engaged with a driving side compound gear 19 fixed at the body frame 3.
