CARPET EDGE ATTACHMENT STRUCTURE FOR VEHICLE AND METHOD OF CONFIGURING THE STRUCTURE

With this structure for attaching an edge of a carpet (1) for a vehicle, a carpet edge is attached to a vehicle body frame member (2) provided at a vehicle body side. This attachment structure comprises a flange (2a), a retainer (3) and a pinchwelt (4). The flange (2a) is raised from the vehicle body frame member (2) along a longitudinal direction of the vehicle body frame member (2). The retainer (3) includes a bottom plate (3a) and first and second wall plates (3b, 3c) respectively raised from both edges of the bottom plate (3a). The retainer (3) is attached to the edge of the carpet along the flange (2a). The pinchwelt (4) sandwiches the first wall plate (3b) and the flange (2a). The carpet (1) extends over the second wall plate (3c). The pinchwelt (4) has a lip (4a) extending over the upper edge of the second wall plate (3c). This attachment structure can more securely fix the edge of the carpet and can realize a favorable appearance.
