An ink jet recording apparatus is provided to prevent adhesion or thickening of mixed ink collected in an ink absorbing body even though ink reacted to suction recovery of a recording head is sucked through a cap. An ink jet recording apparatus(1) recording an image by discharging ink from a recording head to a recording media according to image information comprises: a black ink discharging unit discharging black ink, a recovery unit discharging ink from a color ink discharging unit for discharging color ink reacted to black ink, an ink absorption body collecting discharged ink by the recovery unit and an ink introducing unit introducing the ink discharged by the recovery unit to the ink absorption body.
