An in-line distortion cancellation circuit for linearizing electronic and optical signals by phase and frequency adjustment is provided to permit simultaneous synchronization of the phase response and frequency response of second distortion and generate a high degree of distortion with a low insertion loss and an excellent return loss. A distortion compensation circuit includes an input signal(IN), a first non-linear device(D1), a second non-linear device(D2), and a bias control unit(D1BIAS,D2BIAS). The first non-linear device is joined to the input signal to generate a first signal, and has a first bias level. The second non-linear device is different from the first non-linear device, is joined to the first non-linear device to modify the first signal in order to generate a second signal as an output signal, and has a second bias level. The bias control unit controls the first bias level and the second bias level so that the size, phase, and frequency of the second signal can be controlled.
