<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fuel cell capable of suppressing deterioration of material at the time of lack of fuel. <P>SOLUTION: The fuel cell is provided with an MEA 5 having an anode 2 and a cathode 3 and an electrolyte membrane 1 arranged between the anode and the cathode, a first separator 6 arranged on the anode side, and a second separator 7 arranged on the cathode side. The first separator is formed of a porous carbon material, and a heating medium passage 9a in which a heating medium containing at least water can be circulated is provided on the first separator.
