<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a transflective liquid crystal display device which obtains high contrast with a wider viewing angle by reducing display unevenness due to temperature dependence in a quarter-wave length plate, and an electronic apparatus. <P>SOLUTION: The transflective liquid crystal display device 100 is equipped with: a pair of substrates 10, 25 holding a liquid crystal layer 50 having a liquid crystal with negative dielectric anisotropy in-between; negative C plates 17, 37 sequentially laminated on the outside of the pair of substrates 10, 25 and having an optical axis in a normal direction; the quarter-wave length plates 16, 36 with reverse wavelength dispersion characteristics; and polarizing plates 20, 38, and performs transmissive display and reflective display in one pixel region. In the quarter-wave length plates 16, 36, the ratio of retardation values at 450 and 590 nm wavelengths is 0.8 or more and 1.0 or less, the retardation value at 590 nm wavelengths is 135 nm or more and 145 nm or less, and intrinsic refractive indexes of the C plates 17, 37 are 1.45 or more and 1.65 or less. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT |
