PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a capsule type medical device capable of increasing advancing force and improving controllability for advancing. SOLUTION: This capsule type medical device is provided with an exterior vessel 11 formed into a symmetrical shape with respect to rotation having a symmetrical shaft in at least the direction of advance, a magnet 16 as an electromagnetic field responding part provided in the exterior vessel 11 and acting on a rotary electromagnetic field applied from the outside of a sample to be inspected, and a spiral projection part 12 being a spiral structural part provided on a surface of the exterior vessel 11 to convert the rotary movement generated by the electomagnetic field responding part into advancing force. When a spiral interval is D (mm) and spiral height is h (mm), the spiral structural part is constituted into such a shape that satisfies the following relation: 3×<SP>4</SP>√(h) (mm)<D (mm)<12×<SP>4</SP>√(h) (mm).
