PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize chemical synthesis of pristane useful for the production of a monoclonal antibody. SOLUTION: The method for the chemical synthesis of pristane contains a step 1 to induce 3,7,11-trimethyl-dodeca-2,6,10-trien-1-ol to 3,7,11-trimethyl-dodeca-2,6,10-trienal, a step 2 to induce the 3,7,11-trimethyl-dodeca-2,6,10-trienal obtained by the step 1 to 2,6,10,14-tetramethyl-pentadeca-5,9,13-trien-4-ol, a step 3 to induce the 2,6,10,14-tetramethyl-pentadeca-5,9,13-trien-4-ol obtained by the step 2 to 2,6,10,14-tetramethyl-pentadeca-2,6,10,12-tetraene, and a step to induce the 2,6,10,14-tetramethyl-pentadeca-2,6,10,12-tetraene obtained by the step 3 to pristane.
