A powder coating material containing base coating material powder (A), flaky bright pigment (B) and binder agent (C), characterized in that the binder agent (C) contains a hydrogenated resin obtained by copolymerizing of dicyclopentadiene with another polymerizable monomer and/or oligomer and 80% or more hydrogenation of the copolymer, and that the flaky bright pigment (B) is bound via the binder agent (C) to the base coating material powder (A). Further, there are provided a process for producing the same and a method of forming a coating film with the use of the powder coating material. Thus, there can be obtained a coating film free from unevenness, skin roughness, etc. and excelling in designability.
