A digital video recorder, an operating method thereof and a video control system using the same are provided to divide event detecting works into two based on real time processing possibility and perform parallel processing, thereby processing a recording work as a basic function of the digital video recorder in real time. A data input unit(10) receives a plurality of data. A main event processor(64) obtains main event information by performing main event detecting work for the plural data of the data input unit, and outputs a predetermined number of data needing a sub event detecting work. A sub event processor obtains sub event information by performing a sub event detecting work for the predetermined number of data outputted from the main event processor. A controller(66) performs a recording work or an event work for the plural data in response to each of the main and sub event information transmitted from the main and sub event processors in parallel.
