A method and a device for searching information are provided to enable a user to navigate easily a hierarchical directory structure to search the desired information by conveniently indexing the information with a hierarchical directory structure. A display part(100) displays the information searched from an information storing device(103). A user input device(102) receives selectable normal direction navigation selection, selectable inverse direction navigation selection, and selectable mode switch selection from the user. A controller(101) implements a plurality of substitutive navigation strategies for enabling the user to navigate at least a part of information layers with the normal and inverse direction navigation selection to display the information selected from the information storing device by the user to the display part. |
