<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an imaging apparatus capable of performing exposure on optimal conditions in accordance with a photography purpose of an object under the environment where brightness periodically changes. <P>SOLUTION: When a photographer presses a shutter, a microcomputer 9 detects the shutter operation and an analog signal indicative of brightness detected by a brightness sensor 17 is A/D converted into digital data. The microcomputer 9 stores data for latest three times in a memory at fixed intervals. The microcomputer 9 then compares three values and determines whether value 1>value 2<value 3 is established or not.
