<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a deep groove ball bearing for transmission, which is equipped with a retainer made of a steel plate, and in which rotation torque of a bearing is reduced. <P>SOLUTION: In the deep groove ball bearing 1 for transmission, the retainer 5 is made by two annular retaining plates 6 formed from the steel plate by press working, ball retaining parts 7 rectangularly swelling are formed at a plurality of spots provided at regular intervals in the circumferential direction of these annular retaining plates 6, they are made to face each other on the open side to form polygon-shaped pockets 8, a low friction thin film 10 comprising a hard ceramic thin film is formed at least on the inner peripheral surface of the pocket 8, and a ball 4 is made of ceramic.
