PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image correction circuit capable of realizing effective contrast enhancement irrespectively of contents of an input image. SOLUTION: A black-side intermediate luminance distribution acquisition circuit 22 and a white-side intermediate luminance distribution acquisition circuit 23 acquire luminance a black-side intermediate luminance distribution 61 and a white-side intermediate luminance distribution 62 in each image frame. A characteristic line determining section 24 determines a low-luminance-region input/output characteristic curve LB1 and a high-luminance-region input/output characteristic curve LW1 in each image frame. A gamma correction execution circuit 31 executes image correction for YUV signals (Yin, Uin, Vin) in regions at a low-luminance side and a high-luminance side from a weighed luminance center G1 on the basis of the low-luminance-region input/output characteristic curve LB1 and the high-luminance-region input/output characteristic curve LW1. The low-luminance-region input/output characteristic curve LB1 and the high-luminance-region input/output characteristic curve LW1 are more likely to simple curves irrespectively of contents of input image data.
