PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a thin television apparatus capable of protecting the glass surface of a display panel at the time of falling even in the case of arranging the apparatus in the place where there is no immobility object such as a wall in the vicinity, with respect to the thin television apparatus with thin thickness. SOLUTION: The thin television apparatus comprises: breakage prevention means 15 and 16 held by a housing 11, so that they may project ahead rather than the display surface of a display panel by applying energizing force with an elastic suspension object; a rocking detection means 17 for detecting the rocking of the thin television apparatus 10, and for performing the rocking detection operation; a holding means for holding the breakage prevention means 15 and 16 to the housing 11, so that they cannot project ahead from the display surface of a display panel; and a release means for releasing the holding the breakage prevention means with the housing by the holding means, when the rocking detection means 17 performs the rocking detection operation.
