PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an earthquake resistant locking mechanism which is resistant against unlocking even if an exciting force is applied thereto due to an earthquake, mechanical vibration, or the like. SOLUTION: There is provided a hotel lock which can be released by moving a rack 12 in a right direction that is an unlocking direction, with a sector gear 11 turnable counterclockwise by turning a duplicate key in the unlocking direction, and slightly turning a locking lever clockwise with a control pin 16 engaged with a cam groove 8 formed in the locking lever 7. Herein the hotel lock has a hammer lever arranged in the vicinity of a driving plate 13, and in normal times, i.e. in a state where no vibration is applied to a lock box, a protector pin 25 implanted at an edge of the hammer lever is brought into elastic contact with an inclined edge formed at a rear edge corner of the driving plate.
