PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a pneumatic tire of high quality highly restricted in an influence of a step formed in a connection part of carcass plies. SOLUTION: The pneumatic tire having two layers of carcass plies vertically overlapped with each other comprises a step zone 3 bent step by step in the thickness direction of the plies and a direction crossing the same at a winding terminal end of the first layered ply 2a of the carcass plies 2, and there are provided, in the step zone 3: an end surface 3a abutting on a winding start end of the second layered ply 2b; a back side end surface 3b abutting on the winding start end of the first layered ply 2a; and a surface side end surface 3c abutting on the winding terminal end of the second layered ply 2b.
