The present invention relates to superior, novel Mulberry silkworm hybrids named Swarnandhra (APM<SUB>1</SUB> X APS<SUB>8</SUB>), Kalpatharuvu (APS<SUB>9</SUB> X APS<SUB>8</SUB>), and Hemavathy (APS<SUB>5</SUB> X APS<SUB>4</SUB>), well adapted for all seasons and preferably adapted for tropical region, produced by crossing pureline inbreeds of Polyvoltine (APM) and Bivoltine (APS)and a reliable and consistent method of producing the hybrids, using steps comprising inbreeding, hybridizing, disease tolerance breeding, DNA fingerprinting, and selecting, wherein the said hybrids show high yield of international grade silk. |
