A dual panel type organic EL display device and a manufacturing method thereof are provided to improve a manufacturing efficiency by separately forming first and second substrates and bonding the substrates with each other. A gate line and a data line(215) are formed on a first substrate to define a pixel region. A switching TFT(Thin Film Transistor) is connected to the gate and data lines. A driving TFT(DTr) is connected to the switching TFT. A coupling electrode(230) is connected to the driving TFT. A first buffer layer(253) is formed on an inner surface of a second substrate(251) and has a refractive index higher than the second substrate and lower than the coupling electrode. A column spacer(258) is formed on the same material and is made of the same material as the first buffer layer. A first electrode(255) is formed under the first buffer layer and the column spacer. A barrier rib(273) is formed under the first electrode to correspond to the gate or data line. An organic light emitting layer(276) is formed to correspond to the respective pixel regions. A second electrode(280) is formed under the organic light emitting layer and separated into respective pixel regions. |
