Disclosed is a material containing a polyrotaxane and a fiber, wherein the properties peculiar to the fiber are enhanced and/or improved. Specifically disclosed is a fiber material containing a polyrotaxane and a fiber, which is characterized in that the polyrotaxane has a circular molecule, a linear molecule passing through the circular molecule in a skewering manner, and blocking groups arranged on both ends of the linear molecule for preventing elimination of the circular molecule from the linear molecule. Also specifically disclosed is a method for producing such a fiber material.
