<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus in which foreign matter such as toner left after transfer and recording medium powder can be removed from an electrostatic latent image carrier without using a cleaner exclusively used for cleaning and abrasive toner. <P>SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus is characterized in that an electrification bias at an image formation period or an electrification bias at a non-image formation period whose peak-to-peak voltage of AC component is larger than that of the electrification bias at the image formation period is selectively applied to an electrifying roller 2 electrifying the electrostatic latent image carrier 1, and in that a toner recovery member 6 that rubs the surface of the electrostatic latent image carrier is arranged upstream from the electrifying roller 2 and downstream from a transfer apparatus (transfer roller 5), and in that a toner recovery bias or a toner discharge bias can be applied to the recovery member 6, and in that the electrification bias at the image formation period is applied to the electrifying roller 2 at a prescribed timing during the non-image formation period, in this case, when the electrostatic latent image carrier surface scheduled to pass through the electrifying roller 2 passes through the toner recovery member 6, the toner recovery bias is applied to the member 6. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT |
