PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an imaging apparatus capable of performing partial read-out from a pixel region at an imaging section for suitable white balance processing on the occasion of image generation. SOLUTION: The imaging apparatus comprises an imaging section 200 and a control section 509. A plurality of photoelectric conversion elements are arranged on an imaging plane at the imaging section 200. The control section 509 controls the imaging section 200. The control section 509 has a first mode for reading an image signal from a first photoelectric conversion element group arranged at a first region of the imaging plane for each segment made by dividing the first region into a plurality of regions, and a second mode for reading an image signal from a second photoelectric conversion element group arranged at a second region of the imaging plane. The second region is smaller than the first region. The control section 509 performs read-out of the image signal by the second mode, while performing read-out of the image signal at each segment by the first mode. In addition, the control section 509 controls at least to calculate a correction value based on the image signal of the segment read by the first mode, and to perform white balance processing for the image signal read by the second mode.
