PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve a problem in a lighting inspection technique for a plasma display panel that when disconnection and short circuit of an electrode, contact failure at the time of contact of an electrode connection lighting signal supply means and each electrode terminal and short circuit of the adjacent electrode terminals are detected, inspection time is required to perform such detection with respect to a plurality of patterns. SOLUTION: This lighting inspection method for the plasma display panel is provided with a first substrate 1 on which a plurality of pairs of display electrodes each composed of a scanning electrode 3 and a sustaining electrode 4 are formed and with a second substrate 2 on which a plurality of address electrodes 7 are formed, and color display is performed by using red, blue and green as three primary colors. The color displayed by the specific pair of display electrodes is different from that displayed by the adjacent pair of the display electrodes, and the display state is inspected.
